Open Sew Classes

  • The Stitchery 10 Tussock Lane Canterbury, 8023 New Zealand (map)

Looking for somewhere to come and sew during the week where you can meet other like minded people and chat all things sewing?

Come join me at The Stitchery for Term Four Open Sew classes

Classes will run at three seperate times:

  • Monday Mornings 9am - 11am (weekly)

  • Wednesday Evenings 6pm-8pm (weekly)

  • Friday Evenings 6pm - 8pm (fortnightly - this is a very social evening with a sneaky wee drink and nibbles provided to end the week)

How do Open Sew Classes work?

Come along and bring a sewing project that you want to start, or have already started. Maybe you are stuck on a certain part and need some help or you just want to have some space to spread out.

Any project is welcome, big or small, book a machine for an hour, two hours or as many sessions as you need. We have Concession Cards available, see below.

I will be there to help you if you need any sewing or fitting advice. During your booked time you have the use of the following:

  • sewing machine - we have six in the studio

  • overlocker - get that professional finish on your garment or have a go at making a knit garment - we have two overlockers available

  • coverseamer - always wanted to try hemming your garments on a coverseamer? - we have one available

  • cutting table - just need to spread out to cut out your next project?

  • irons & ironing boards are also there to use

  • scissors, pins, notions all available for use

Please note - Open sew classes are aimed towards confident beginners through to advanced sewers, of course beginner sewers are always welcome, but please understand that this can be a busy class and my time can be spread thinly if class is full, I will of course do my best to help you as much as possible but there might be wait times, as I won’t be able to take you step by step through your project. If you are a beginner sewer maybe consider coming along to the Adults beginner class first to get an understanding of sewing construction and how to read pattern instructions so you can feel more confident to attempt to complete your open sew garment.

Costs: $20 per hour with a one hour min charge.

Concession Card: pay for five (two hour) Open Sew classes and get the sixth class free. You will be emailed a code to use when booking the Open Sew classes, you do still need to book each individual class. (Valid for 12 months, so you can choose when to join us)

Come along and meet some other like minded amazing sewing people.
