Always wanted to learn to sew, or just haven’t sewn in a while or even since school days and want a refresher? Then The Stitchery Beginners Workshop is the perfect class for you to learn how to sew.
We have three projects to make, a tote bag to start, then a pencil case and finally a pair of Pyjama Pants
Tote Bag: This is a nice easy project to start on, you will learn the following: how to sew straight seams using the recommended seam allowance, how to edgestitch and topstitch, also how to bag out the lining to the main outer tote for a clean professional finish.
Pencil case: I love this wee guy, such a stylish triangular style case, you will get to practice similar techniques as you did on the tote, but we learn how to add in the zip.
Pyjama Pants: Who doesn't need a pair of PJ pants to lounge around in? This will be your introduction to making a garment to fit your body. You will be using the fabulous PJ Patterns from Tilly and the Buttons, they have both mens & womens patterns available. You will use the sewing skills you have learnt in the past two projects, while adding some new skills such as elastic waist casings, attaching the elastic and a drawcord. Also, finishing techniques to get the professional finish on the inside
This is a 12 hour course, run over six consecutive Monday nights 12/04/21 through to 24/05/21, 6-8pm. Please note there is no class on Monday the 26/04/2021 (ANZAC Day observed)
