Kids Beginners Class Week 4

  • The Stitchery 10 Tussock Lane Canterbury, 8023 New Zealand (map)

Kids Beginners Class, this class is for any child who wants to learn to sew, or has sewn before, but wants to learn more.

We have three projects to make over a 4 week class starting with a tote bag moving to a cushion cover with Applique and finishing with an elasticated skirt (or shorts for boys) with a scrunchie bonus if we have time at the end.

Tote Bag: This is a nice easy project to start on, you will learn how to sew straight seams using the recommended seam allowance, how to edgestitch and topstitch, and how to zig zag the seams for a nice finish.

Cushion Cover: This pillowslip style cushion cover, reinforces the skills we have just learnt with making the tote, but we also get to have a bit of fun, by adding an applique shape or letter to the front using the blanket stitch on the sewing machine.

Elasticated Skirt (or shorts for boys): By now you will be a whizz on the sewing machine, we will construct a skirt to fit you, again using the same skills as the past two projects, but we also get to add and elastic waistband and learn how to hem your skirt.

This is a 7 hour course, run over four consecutive Wednesday afternoons 26/10/22 through to 16/11/22, 3:45-5:30pm.

Cost for workshop $200, plus extra for your skirt fabric, which you get to chose yourself.

Fabric for the tote and the cushion cover are all supplied along with all trims and notions for all three projects.
